The Art Of Sitting On Your Friends

We had requests for more photos of blind-and-deaf Stella the Pug sitting on the other dogs, and she happily obliged us in the past month. Stella does have her chosen favorites — Cammie and, as you’ll see, Wally our blind Dachshund among them — but she is also an equal opportunity sitter. She will try to sit on any dog who will let her do it. While a few, like Allie Mae, send her packing whenever she makes the attempt, what surprises us is how many dogs let her get away with this.

In the photo above is our three-legged boy Tanner, tolerating a determined Stella.

In the next photo is a prized “two-fer” … managing to sit on two dogs at the same time. This is a new development but one I’m certain we’ll see more of. That’s Cammie on the left, then Wally in the middle and Daisy on the right. I think Stella actually has her weight pretty evenly distributed between Wally and Daisy.

Now Wally really gets sat on a lot, and doesn’t seem to mind one bit:

Same idea, different day:

Finally — speaking of tolerant! — here’s Stella sitting on Wally’s head while he sleeps:

We’re still not sure why Stella feels compelled to do this, and even less sure why the other dogs permit her to do it, but it’s definitely become a thing around here!
